The Steve Neale genre is a process by which generic codes and conventions are shared by producers and audiences through repetition in media products. An example of this could be across different types of newspapers  such as broadsheets and tabloids which are two different types of newspaper, but share the generic codes and conventions which makes it recognisable as a newspaper. A masthead would be used across both forms of newspaper and to the audience this feature makes it recognisable. This would be the same for feature such as images, headlines and captions which are all common terms used in a newspaper .
Another example across a different form of media would be in films. In films there are certain conventions that fit into almost every genre. These are things such as the film title that appears at the start of a film or the credits that are played at the ending of every film. The repetition of these codes and conventions make it easy for audiences to establish what the form of media is.
