Online newspapers have had a significant rise in attraction over the past few years as they have become easier to access for the majority of people.

One of the main advantages of online newspapers is that they can constantly be updated in relation to the news throughout the day. For example, a physical copy of a newspaper is written and edited in the early hours of the morning and is made with ink printed on to the recycled matter and wood pulp which cannot be edited after release. This could result in the majority of people having to wait for details that could be major headlines until the next day’s issue.

Alternatively, a reason as to why print newspapers could have an advantage over online sources of news is that in order to view the online versions resources such as WI-FI and a device is needed. This may not be as easily accessible to some people is they come with large price tags.

Another reason as to why I believe that online newspapers have a competitive edge over print newspapers is because of the electronic advantages that can be offered through it, such as faster access to the news across the globe as soon as it occurs. The ease of access also helps as the reasons to go out of your way and purchase a physical copy from a news- agents has faded with the pace of electronic development. As well as this, the more frequent use of images and videos appeals to the modern day person more than a few select images on a piece of paper, furthermore the quality of the image could also be accounted with a more pleasurable and effortless experience in viewing online.

Another advantage could be that online newspapers have the ability to engage younger readers through the brighter and faster paced format. This could help to bring awareness of the everyday news to future generations and the youth of today. Consequently, over time having an interest in the news will be a formality for the youth of today.

Overall I believe that online newspapers have the competitive edge over print newspapers as they attract more viewers through a faster and refreshing composition. I believe this will progress to the only source of news in the future as technology continues to develop and progress positively.
